The Beliefs of Malcolm X

Malcolm X had many different beliefs throughout his life.

His Early Life

When Malcolm was a child, his father was a black preacher in Nebraska. His family was split apart when the KKK burned down his house and killed his father. He dropped out of school at the age of fifteen and became acquainted with criminals. His beliefs at the time were not religious. He was a criminal and was arrested for burglary. He spent most of his time in prison learning about the Muslim faith.

His beliefs were not really important to his figure in history at this point of his life...

The Nation of Islam

When Malcolm was released from prison, he joined the Nation of Islam. He became the speaking figure for the Nation of Islam.

Malcolm was an extremist. He was equally racist against white people during this time. He preached that the white man was evil and his leader, Elijah Muhammad, was the messenger of God. He believed in protecting your own freedom By Any Means Necessary.

True Islam and His Pilgrimage

When Malcolm left the Nation of Islam, he went on a Pilgrimage. He went to Mecca and stayed there for two weeks.

Malcolm X was no longer racist. He felt as if he was brothers to the other Muslims in Mecca. He befriended people from different cultures. He was peaceful.
